This new and innovative tool is a genuine problem solver for the dismantling and assembly of shock absorbers with tension stop springs.
Includes:
1 x Telescopic basic unit with handle
1 x Intermediate bearing with telescopic pipe receiving thread and handle
1 x Uni-clamping piece with plastic jaw protector
1 x Clamping screw set, 2 pcs short
1 x Clamping screw set, 2 pcs long
1 x T-grip Allen key with ball
Function of the tension stop springs:
The tension stop springs ensure that the shock absorber cannot be damaged, when stretching right up to the end stop.
The spring is located directly within the shock absorber and is not active when in neutral gear and in the pressure stage.
It only comes into effect at the end of the damper passage during the rebound stroke.
The use of a tension stop spring has the advantage of hardly impacting on the length of the damper passage.
However, there is also a significant disadvantage during the dismantling and assembly of the same, in that when the spring is loaded, the piston rod is also retracted with the tension stop spring.
For mechanics, that often means first of all that he/she is often unable to load the spring using conventional tools to the extent that during construction, the fastening nut of the piston rod can become loose without any counter pressure.
Moreover, during assembly, it was impossible even with a spring loaded on a block, to screw the fastening nut onto the piston rod.
Since the problem of repair operation must ultimately be solved somehow or other, sometimes extremely dangerous methods are used.
